Does anyone have an illustrated guide (or a link to one) showing how to do this?
I have a set coming in the post and a removal tool too. I have taken the soundproof cover off and have at last located the plugs. Can't see how I'm going to get them out!! In fact I can't see how to get the connectors off first!

They are the original ones so 14 years old and 100K mileage but presumably they were put in at 8Nm?

Does anyone have experience of using Wurth Injector-Ex?

I could try WD40. The car is a non-runner at the moment so I can't warm them up and lubricate over several days

Don't attempt to change them until you get engine to start.

They are a pig of a job to get too.

Engine will start quite happily without working glow plugs unless well below freezing.

Thanks for comment. Unfortunately I think after 2 months storage I have coolant stopping the engine turning over and removing the glow plugs was the only way I could think of removing it temporarily as we are 16 miles from a garage:(

Hi
I tried this morning to turn the engine. Using a 19mm socket on the auxiliary belt and my torque wrench I was able to easily move the engine about 90 degrees in the wrong direction. Will try again when the rain stops as if I can do two complete turns that might indicate my worst fear isn't the case. Did not find turning it in right direction possible.
The reason I was thinking about removing the glow plugs was because I have them on order and have had the flashing light warning for over a year so will do the job sometime. I know that the 1.9JTD is good for starting without glow plugs. The injectors would be an easier way of checking for water in cylinders but the glowplugs are passive allowing the use of the starter motor

On another thread you say its possible to tow in 5th gear

It is really puzzling and I wish you all the best tracking problem down.

A year?
Id your plugs have been broken that lot I suspect they will be extremely difficult to remove as they will likely have a lot of carbon buildup on them
So don't attempt until you. An get the engine upto temp
