I'm planning on fitting these speakers in my 3 door mk2b, I have looked up the sizes, but if someone with some more experience could just check this for me I would appreciate it!

Front:
Pioneer TS-G1721i 17cm Dual Cone Speakers 230W
(From Amazon)

Back:
Pioneer TS-G1021i 10cm Dual Cone Speakers 180W
(From Amazon)

Also, I'm a little short on money at the moment, which set should I upgrade first?

Upgrade front speakers first, front is where you will get the benefit of a speaker
swap.

Why Pioneer?
there is better stuff out there for the same Money all it takes is abit of a nosey on the web,

Iuse JBL.. Jbl sounds cheap but its Harman kardon at the end of the day and you can switch the Mid range off on some when you want as there switched,

Lanzar is another good one, american made, cheap but good stuff.

The pioneer speakers for the rear you linked dont fit properly..they dont screw in the same as the OEM ones, Rattles here so be warned,

link for lanzar.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lanzar-4-...8?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item51b8b3b0bc

also some speakers say they are 230w etc but at the end of the day there only 60-80w,
if you wanted big powerd ones you need to be amp'd or its just going to sound farty,

To be honest, I'm just looking to match the sound quality of a modern OEM system, for example, my parents have a lower spec 308 and the sound system outputs a much nicer sound, the same with my friends stock '08 Suzuki Swift.

I thought the pioneer would be a good choice as they were the cheapest branded ones I could fine, but I will definitely go for them Lanzar speakers for the rear.

DO you have any other suggestions for the front speakers? And if not, are the pioneers the correct depth?

Thanks.

Also, I should point out, I do have a new Sony HU installed.

If you look at my Punto members motors thread (click on Priscilla's name in my siggy), you'll see some Hertz (IIRC) speakers that I was lucky enough to win. They may be a tad expensive: but the sound -- and I am very hard of hearing; although I used to be a musician... -- is excellent! (y)

speakers go off with age and use
if you get in a low mileage punto its surprising how even the basic system can sound really good as its the air behind the speakers that create the better sound
i wouldnt want to spend lots here just make sure speakers are efficient in the fact you dont need to use lots of volume to drive them as this is when your amplifier starts to clip and sound awful
