Long post alert! Some developments over Christmas with the 2003 52reg punto (1.2 8v)
Well had to replace a tyre after me mother had a disagreement with a kerb. I don't really understand the tyre numbers but here's the full number... "Firestone F590 165/70 R14 81T" So to start with, can someone just explain the code!
First thing I noticed was that the wheel is 15inch diameter not 14 like I assumed from looking at the code? Anyway not important I got the tyre it's on no problem. (£35). But while I was measuring I saw the hubcap was exactly 14inch diameter, while on all the 3 others the hubcaps are 15inch and fill up the rim completely. Again, no worries because I don't really care and it's not noticeable.
BUT while putting the jack away in the boot I found half a piece of paperwork stuck down which someone has seemingly made a poor attempt to dispose of. The upshot of it is that on the bit that's left it says something handwritten about front left damage (Same corner as the odd hubcap!) and a replaced something which is unreadable.
On top of this the passenger door has never been quite right and although it's fine it's never been perfect and it's not a tight fit on the top edge... I'd think nothing of it had I not suddenly realised it was on the same corner of the car.
I reckon something's up and while I think I ought to do something I don't know what or why and of course my parents (who bought half the car off me) say it's only a car who cares. I'm tempted to agree with them and if it were my old punto or uno I would but it's less than two years old!!!
Anyway what do you think any opinions, advice or random twaddle welcome.
In particular someone mentioned a national acident register or something is it free and easy or not worth it or what?? Cheers, Richard.
