Does anyone know how to safely remove the black "cover" over the gauge cluster? Someone at one point took a brillo pad or something abrasive to it and its been driving me crazy since we got the fiat last year. Id like to refinish it if possible.

If you are asking about popping it off the dash, there are 2 spring steel clips on the bottom that you can depress with a screwdriver. The top is just 2 plastic hooks that slip under the dash sheet metal. Then loosed the electric and speedo cables behind it. At that point you can disassemble the cluster.

Free the bottom first, then pivot the bottom out and down and it should come right out.

It is easier if you disconnect the speedo cable and the multi-plugs from the instrument cluster (from under the bonnet) before you try and remove the instrument cluster---just remember which multi-plug goes where (only 2--1 red and 1 white)
