Hi guys, I ordered my 500 on 15/09/09 and am getting increasingly worried i won't see it until 2010 (xmas break and all) and wondered how i will stand with the 2.5% increase in vat and who will have to pay? (me i guess!)(n)

I ordered a 1.3 MJ Lounge in BNW With Black Leather yesterday. I was told that if the car was delivered after 31st December then we would have to pay an extra 2.5% VAT!
I think this is rediculas! surely if I've ordered 12 weeks before the VAT increase is due to take effect then I shouldn't have to pay it!

Yes, you will have to pay VAT at the prevailing rate at the invoice date.

Then that is something you should take up with your local MP - VAT law is very clear on 'relevent dates' and the dealer cannot bend them.

Of course, nobody moaned when their 500's were delivered at a 2.5% discount to what they were expecting!

Hiya

I ordered my FIAT 500 two days ago and was told exactly the same thing, apparently the garage don't get invoiced by the Revenue for the car until the day it reaches the garage, which means we're liable for the extra 2.5%.

I was told mine would take 12-14 weeks to arrive so I'm definately going to have to pay it!

Let's hope the government change their mind.

Kirsty

best i keep my fingers tightly crossed it comes in the 12 weeks quoted or it will be a lean ol' christmas!!:bang:

How much would an extra 2.5% (or 5%) vat add on to the price of a new 500? I haven`t even ordered one yet.

So with £300 vat increase and £400 price increase that leaves me with £1300 scrappage bonus on a car I could sell for £700. So I get a£600 bonus.
(n) Big Deal !!

Yeah it does start to add up eh? Because the dealers can sell the 500 so easily, you can bet your bottom dollar none of them will be willing to help with the vat situation :(

I feel like writing to eyebrows Darling and demanding changes to the scrappage scheme meaning that instead of £2000 off , they just give us new cars.

I was told by my dealer that the factory where they are being made is about to increase it's workforce by 400 people so the 12 week delivery time may come down?

look at the telephone number...its a mobile... go ahead give them £8000
