Hi all. Just had 1.2 8V cylinder head skimmed and valves seated/sealed.
Now the camshaft is reassembled, the clearances to the valve 'buckets' have tightened (presumably by the amount of grinding?) The tightest is 0.38 and they vary between this and 4.6.
Question is, will this be a problem? Is it something that will sort itself out or do I need to buy new shims for the 'buckets' or whatever they're called?
Thanks

According to Fiat Punto 1999-2003 Haynes,
MK2 1.2 8V 60hp 188A4000.
intake .40+-.05, exhaust .45+-05

some other sources are saying:
INLET 0,35±0,05 EXHAUST 0,45±0,05

so:
1, 3, 6, 8 = .45 +-.05
2, 4, 5, 7 = .40 +-.05 or .35+-05

0.35 would be ok -,I'm probably worrying about nothing?! Thanks allUOTE=RollsRoyce;3532595]According to Fiat Punto 1999-2003 Haynes,

I'd go with 40/45 split.

If they're with tolerances, no probs. The big mistake folk make is to forget that they change order after the first two cylinders.

eurocarcare.net has the cheapest stock in the UK -- aound £3 a hit, IIRC, but they can be shuffled about, so the chances of you needing more than a couple are remote.

Shimming is fun, even on Desmo Ducatis!
