Thanks for all your comments, i agree that the B is really underestimated here in the UK.

I have owned and driven a number of cars over the years but really enjoyed finding my B, finding this forum, its info and its members.

For most a price tag of under £4 or 5k
I feel the Barchetta has great looks, driverbility and always attracts loads of attention, just felt it needs to have the power to go with its sporty looks. hence the money spent on modding and the drastic idea of buying another like the (Wild Thing). Now this is gotta be one of the most powerful B's in the country and just surprised how i have not been able to resell it at a figure of less than £5k

Now i can only put this down to the difficult financial times this country is seeing at the mo. otherwise a car like this , with sexier curves than most small soft tops , quicker and cheaper than a Porsche boxster leaves me so surprised.

I now have my silver B back in all its shiny glory and so intend to exchange the turbo conversion into her and continue to keep smiling

Good to hear you have the silver one back!

I think there is a very closed market for the turbo b. Very few people want to buy modified cars, most want a stock car that they can mod! If you think about it the only reason you bought wild thing was because you wanted the turbo - not the car, its just that Novitec stopped making the turbo kit otherwise you would have bought one of them!

The financial climate cannot be helping things, there are stock b's that have been on the trader for over 6 months now, admittedly some of them are overpriced but some are not........

Get the turbo off wild thing, cut your losses and sell it to Nick's dad!!

There are only 35 barchettas left in Argentina. Nobody wants to sell them. If you find one, you would have to pay about U$22000 or U$26000 american dollars.
I wouldnt sell mine for less than U$40.000, I´m first owner, 100% original, not even 1 scratch ever made. I love it!!

Take a look at this web site, its a used car site for the UK - you will not be happy when you see how cheap they are here!! In fact there are 29 for sale at the moment..............

On this side of the water the values are crazy. Particularly from insurance companies. I paid €10k for a '00 B in 2006 with 25k miles FSH and leather / aircon. Naturally a premium for it being the best colour..midnight blue.

Herself stacked it and did 2.5k damage. Insurers sent out the office clown who admitted he'd never seen a B or valued one so he'd be generous on 'an old Fiat' and give me a write off value of 3k. He came out of hospital around the time I got parole. Finally got a valuation of 11k from a guy who mended MX5's. So he valued it at more than I paid for it....:chin:

Right now there are 3 final model '05 B's for sale. 1 with 5k miles for 15k, a new one at 29k and another new one at 20k. Lunatic money for the last 2 base models. Steel wheels, no ABS leather or aircon.

i waited 25 years to have a soft top, so she is worth a lot to me and nothing to the next man, but i don't care cause she is staying even if i need a hoist to get out one day !!!!!
as for impractical i dont see that i have been for a weeks hols in her, and shop every fortnight for 3 in her no problem !!!
she is my only car (why would you want another) and had he 13 months with far less breakdown's that i had from a 52 kangoo go figure

So far. The B has been the best car I've had and value for money. Swapped it for my 2002 Stilo - which would now be worth next to nothing. I reckon I have made money with the swap. All of the money spent has been on non-essential mods until now (wheel bearings).

Tried to talk dad into getting the Turbo B. If I was starting from scratch I would buy it. In the end dad was impatient and wanted a 2 seater quickly. I don't think the average UK person would consider LHD. If it was a RHD car and slightly more expensive to begin with it would be as popular as the MX5 I think.

i bought mine ('96) for about 4300€ and spend more than 2000€ on it in 2 years... and i believe there are no more than 40 barchettaz in whole my country. but, still... 80% peoples here have only 1 car at home because second car is a luxury, so for second car they are looking some "under-2000€-cars".
i will not sell this car anyway... (only if some offer me more than 7000€ )
now, i am saving some money for repainting (to black or pure white) whole little thing and to fix bumpers. i believe this will cost me for about 1000€...

If you talk to people in the car trade most are of the opinion that Fiat missed a trick by not making the B in RHD for the UK market. Such experts are convinced that if it was available in RHD Fiat would have sold shed loads here. Personally, I am pleased they did not as it retains a bit of exclusivity for the model.
When I acquired my B it was mainly for use on holidays in mainland Europe but as we all know driving such a compact LHD over here is just not a problem, except you have to stretch a bit at ticket barriers, but I need the exercise! When I first drove my B I was very impressed even though it was running terribly having not been used for nearly 3 years. Just hooked up a new battery and off it went. Every time I drive her it is an occasion.

Resale Value of Fiats is very poor in the UAE...

Got mine (99' model) 3months ago for AED- 13K (3250 Euros) Spent so far: approx. 800 Euros on repairs & labour. Expecting to put about 400 Euros next week for some major refreshment for the engine which includes 3 major gaskets, adjustment & cleaning of engine parts & maybe the piston seals..

European Specs imported from Portugal to the UAE several years ago by a car dealer, Hitachi ECU comes mounted above inlet pipes, correct me if wrong about this part...
