USB Appears to be dead

Ive read through the forums and found a few references to this problem and tried the solutions provided with no joy.

I have an 06 GP 1.9 JTD and Blue & Me has been working fine. Its been updated to 5.4 and has been running an iPhone with the new adaptor sweet as a nut.

Then all of a sudden it has stopped charging the iPhone and the lady in my car tells me No Media Found.

I've used 2 different USB sticks that worked fine before and know they do nothing, not even flash as if they are being read.

Otherwise everything else works fine and the lady will happily chat with me.

Another solution I've read is disconnect the battery (Does this cause any other issues such as codes being required for the system)

Another solution I've read and not tried is remove the fuse for the Audio system (Is this easy to get at, is it clearly marked, does it cause any problems with codes etc)

Apologies if this has been discussed to death else where, i promise I have done a search on the forum.

Have you tried the hidden usb port (6 inches to the right under a little cover) just to see if the port itself is dead rather than a general B&M issue.

If you do want to reset it the hard way then yes, Disconect the battery or fuses.

Battery disconnect will also flush the ECU of its day to day parameters so your car may run rough whilst it re-learns these. Also the clock will need resetting.

Fuses are fiddlier to do but will cause less hassle to ECU and Clock.

I had exactly the same problem and just disconnected the battery for a few seconds and it worked straight away.The clock and date wasn't reset and all my radio settings stayed the same aswell. As far as I can see it didnt reset anything.

I tried disconnecting the battery and left it off eventually for about 45 mins and still no joy.

Everything else works great, I reset the clock and stuff with no problem, and car runs like a dream, i'm just getting a bit cheesed off now after spending £65 notes on the iPhone adaptor which I cant use at all now and to make it worse I cant even use any memory stick.

I bought the car from a Vauxhall dealer and i'm loathe to go back to them as I just know I'm going to get a blank look when I mention Blue & Me.

Unless anyone else has a good idea I think it will be a visit to my local Fiat dealer to see if they can work some magic.

My punto is going to fiat tomorrow, My second USB has completely snapped off, now i have no working USB's. They are charging me £40 just to have a look at it. Im dreading to hear the price they want to repair it. Im expecting them to say they need to change the whole unit because the snapped usb was connected to the circuit board.

Wow, its taken a while but its all sorted now.

I'd bought the car from a Vauxhall dealership and they nicely gave me Network Q warranty, which was nice of them.

So I rang them up and explained the problem and they insisted on having a look with the solution that the head unit needed replacing and it was all covered with the warranty.

it didnt work so they gave in and sent it to a local Fiat garage who diagnosed a faulty control unit which they replaced for me all covered by the warranty.

Result for me is no bill, and a working USB that works brill with my iPhone only downside is it took a while to sort out.
