I bought the 500L in August 2013... Ony have 2100 miles right now... I noticed during the very low temperatures of 20 degrees & below when I start the car the check engine light would come on & the gearbox symbols of PRND (Park,Reverse,Neutral,Drive) next to the shift would blink for about 5 minutes.... Has anyone eslse had this problem during cold weather?

Bump... Has anyone experienced cold starting problems?

This was handled by a recall in the US. There is a problem with the threshold value of some sensor that measures viscosity of the trans oil. When it gets cold oil thickens. Take it to your dealer and I am sure this can be fixed like it was for the North American market, with a 30 min service involving a software update.

I had mine done and it was painless. Well, except for the fact that I ended up buying an Abarth convertible while I was there. A story for another thread.

Thanks for the reply...I'm going to make an appointment with my Fiat studio... Enjoy the Abarth!
