Hi

Part way through chaning this, it should be easy and in theory it is. Had a bit of trouble taking the hub off the shaft, and when it came off - it left the rear racer from the bearing behind. The bearing is split in two, and the rear racer is refusing the budge off the shaft.

Not 100% sure of how to get the bloody thing off! HELP ME!!

Really this needs to be split to get it off easily. If you have access to an angle grinder, then cut through most of it and use a cold chisel to finally snap it.

Other option is to use heat. Even a blow torch should get it hot enough to expand enough to clear . It should slide off so there is not much holding it on.

Hope this helps

Cheers

cheers for the quick reply.. does it matter if the shaft is scored - looks like whoever last did this has jabbed the shaft with a screwdriver.

will give the blow torch idea a whirl

cheers

arc, this happened to me. I spent 3 hours trying to get it off and in the end i ordered a new set of rear trailing arms (but then i couldnt get the old ones off) so i put a small flat-head screwdriver up against the back of the bit that was left on the wheel-bearing and tapped it lightly with a hammer, came off in 2 minutes.

have a look at the new bearing to make sure you know where to put the screwdriver.

thanks guys, all sorted now

ended up cutting into it a little and then using a screwdriver and hammer to force it to rotate round the shaft to loosen it a tad, then got the screwdriver in behind, opened the gap - then wider with a chisel and then used some puller/jaws things that pulled it right off.
