Regarding the rear gearbag mount, which way up does it go? White/blue upwards or downwards?

as long as you drop the large bracket down it should slot in fairly easily(compared to most cinq jobs!)
take it your following the haynes bible?

ive got the mount on there, and when i dropped it off the jack i could still see part of the white plastic bit. it might well be right, but it jsut looks a bit wrong to me

i left the bible in stafford.

yup you can still see some of the pastic when its in IIRC.lol only 9 hours later
