Found this for sale when having a 'mooche' on ebay. Bit annoyed really,
coz I recently forked out nearly a hundred quid from Navteq. ! . And what more, they live in North Wales like me !. :bang:
How can Navteq justify charging wht they for their new updates? (n)
Anyway, hope this helps somebody, and I'll look on ebay more often.

Er, welcome to the forum, BUT do you have a link to the sale on eBay? :)

NavTeq can justify their prices due to the level of research they put into it, plus the prices are for the 'business' community, with fleet cars, etc.

Heres the link to ebay. Keep the money from Navteq !
If this was for a pda or something like that, you get free updates by simply downloading from the internet, not forking out over £100 so your car knows all of the altered roads.

Hope somebody from here saves a couple of quid! :D

Sorry for my views, I am talking from a 'private' user. Using the sat nav as a business tool means £100 so you dont get lost on route to meetings etc aint bad. 2 ways of seeing it I spose!

Are all PDAs updated for free?

Look at MSN Autoroute - that doesn't have free updates, meaning you have to buy the next package if you want up to date info.

Also, you aware you get a free update when you register! AND if you then register that free update at another address, etc etc ;)

Oh, I know all that - I have never paid fully for an update yet, in both my Stilo and Ulysse.

All I was getting at was along the lines of 'Why do NavTeq charge when everyone else doesn't?!'

Don't forget, the systems in both the cars are quite unique to certain models of satnav [RT3 in Ulysse, Visteon in Stilo], therefore market is not so great I presume. Whereas PDA versions are more predominent.
