Hey everyone, first of i'd like to say i don't know a great deal about cars, and I apoligise if I say anything naive or miss any details out. Also, i really appreicieate any time and help you guys give me.

I've owned an uno for two years, and frankly, it's my pride and joy. I've been hit by hell loads of problems over the years. But my love for the car as compelled me to keep on fixing and throwing money at it.
However recently i've come across a difficult problem:
I'll start the car as normal with the choke and she'll start fine. About five minutes into the journey it starts to lose some power - fith gear becomes redundant (for fear of the revs dipping so low that the car cuts out entirly)
Eventually the car has next to no power, running almost entirly on the choke. any gas i give does nothing - with my foot to the floor in third theres a small accerlation burst and the max speed is about 30mph. the car then dies slowly and cuts out. after which i can wait ten minutes and start the car again, (if i try starting it before ten minutes the car doesn't turn over properly).

Real sorry for the lengthy first post, and thanks for any help!

oh, and the Uno is a first generation (1989), 1.3, five door model. with carburettor.

Maybe faulty or old fuel pump. It works fine while cold, but as it heats up, it's weaker and weaker....

Welcome to the forum

I think you could have a blocked jet in the carburettor. The jets look like brass screws and you can get to them with the air filter lid removed (or the housing, for the 1372cc engine). Compressed air is useful to blow the jets and the carburettor properly clean (but, cover the top with a rag to prevent getting a faceful of petrol).

Cheers,
-Alex

Its worth saying, when you take theose jets out, use a screw driver that fits properly, especially one thats the full width of the groove, as its easy to damage them.

Sounds like the good ol' overheated ignition module problem, to me.

(in addition to the possible blocked jets)
