Hi,

Long story short brought a car from a well known online car dealership. Been in and out of the main dealership for a cutting out issue in initial start.

Main garage found that the wrong grade of oil was put in the car. I’m wondering if this could be a potential factor to maybe a failed uniair module and could explain why my car wants to cut out when starting up. Any ideas?

Model
Twin air 0.9
Year
2016
Mileage
42000
lots of threads about this! uniair module requires a very specific oil! using the wrong type destroys the unit! Its circa 2k plus or more to fix- usually more than the cars worth .
How long ago did you buy it! might have some recourse via trading standards but its likely they would just deny putting the oil in so your probably on your own!.

Hi, 🙂

Sorry you are having problems 😔

what car, which year and covered what mileage

I have 3 x twinairs.. They all run differently 🤔

I bought the car in September last year from cinch. Went into the main dealer to drain some of the oil and they said there was too much. Only to be told that the wrong grade of oil was in there! So I’m wondering if this is the reason for a potential failure and why my car has been playing up this whole time

That's relatively low miles.. But could have been on junk oil for 5 years.. 🤔

Our 2013 panda has had niggly issues since 10k miles.. But still runs "ok". Now at 45k

A 2016 500 is still an expensive car.. So needs sorting out 🙂
{too late for handing it back..?
I know my 500 just had a 1 month GUARANTEE.. No warranty}

I'm thinking a failed uniair module, too.

I'd say that's sadly too long ago to have any realistic chance of any comeback against the seller.

There's a recent thread here about a DIY replacement of the uniair module.

It might be worth taking the car up to Small Car Services to get another opinion; and if you're not going to do it yourself, I can't think of anywhere better for having the work done.
