Any body out there help, for some conciderable months my 1.9TD100SX Brava has been under powered at about 3500RPM it hits a flat spot. Turbo/waste gate linkage seems to work, have applied preasure from a foot pump to input of valve, and it seems ok but, when reved hard the linkage only seems to move 1mm or so with the foot pump it moved a good 10mm. A more improved acceleration is gained by removing the air filter but with it fitted the car drives normally but under hard accel a whine develops at about 3500 to 4000 RPM and I have noticed a dramatic fuel consumption 230m on half a tank!!. Typically FIAT have had a look and couldnt fault it, could it be a sensor?. Any body shed any light on this problem.........

the same here

Got a bravo td100sx. Under 2000rpm the engine does nothing. from 2500 till 3500 rpm accelerates quite good; max is 3800-3900, then i feel the power drops off.
Fuel consumption is not good at all, mine does about 7 liters /100 km (don't know in miles). My father's omega (2.5td) does 8l/100km,and that engine is bigger and far more powerfull.
i took the air intake system off. only the box and filter are there, and now the engine is a little more responsive (not much).

re under powered diesel

It couldn't be the wastegate because when this fails it results in overboosting the engine and you would be flying...(for a few seconds anyway, before blowing your engine). You could better start with changing the air filter. My Brava TD75 has a K&N filter and it runs fine with it (more torque than with the original). However there could also be something wrong with the diesel pump resulting in power loss. I believe the TD100 has an intercooler. Cleaning it would never do any harm. BTW mine runs 6,5 ltr/100 km
