Just having yet another nosey under the wifes car, and noticed that on both sides of the car, at the same point just behind each wheel, it appears one of the circular floor grommets is missing. Indentifiable by the dirt ring around each hole.

Is losing them a common thing, and is the size, which appears to be slightly larger than 25mm, a dealer only part?

The question has been asked many times and it’s not entirely sure that they are meant to be there.

Generally the holes are there to drain off paint/liquid when car is submerged in production, then plugged to keep out water and other unwanted stuff.

I'm assuming we're talking about the circular holes in the strengthening plates that form a box section with the integral chassis at that point.

:yeahthat:

On taking delivery of my car when new, the two front ones were absent, the two rear ones present.

The two that were absent would otherwise interfere with the only decent jacking points on the front of the car, so they may well be removed by dealerships during the PDI. Much better than having the car damaged by lifting on the sills.

IMO these are best left off; there are other unplugged holes in the strengthening plates anyway and leaving them off will make it easier for any water which does collect there to drain away. Also the last thing you want to do is put anything there which might discourage anyone working on the vehicle from using the only safe points on the car to lift it.

I most definitely wouldn't bother trying to source replacements for these.
