Hello everybody!

Had the car serviced by my INDY a few days ago, filters changed, oil etc.

I'm now suffering from very bad performance, I can get to motorway speed eventually. But it's so slow from 0-30, I'm having to change gear much later and still I can't accelerate nearly as fast as I could before.

I've got no warning lights and I've even plugged in my ELM327 Interface into the OBD II port and there are no fault codes showing. I can read temperatures from it, even the air flow speed off the sensor.

Any ideas where I should start?

It a 2004 2.0 Diesel.
Thanks.

Well, the rear brake calliper being stuck probably isn't helping!
Smoking rear offside wheel! Scorchio!

Problem still there after calliper replaced.

Mass Air Flow Meter disconnected, problem is the same, what does that suggest?

i'd double check everything the indy reckoned they'd done, maybe something's fitted incorrectly. have you spoken to them ie along the lines of 'it was ok until you serviced it' ? After a run try touching each wheel; are any hot which may point to binding brakes or a bearing failing?

Thanks for the reply. Brakes wise we are all sorted now, no heat that I can detect, but before it was there, you can feel it and smell it!

The loss of power issue is odd, it's "gutless". My Indy disconnected the MAF and said that seems to have improved it, but I notice no difference with it plugged in or not.

Even odder is the fact I'm not getting any warning lights with it disconnected!

I've ordered a 40 quid MAF, my indy wanted upwards of 110, I politely declined his offer, especially considering there was no guarantee it was going to work (my opinion, not his).

I should have just kept my BMW....grrrr, what a mistake to buy the heap!

Thanks Normd, interesting articles and explain what the bloody thing does in detail. Cleaning is an option then.

Took it out for a spin just now with MAF reconnected and in my opinion it runs better with it connected, but the problem is there.

Also with my cheap ELM327 cable I was able to check airflow being measured by the sensor. With it disconnected, it stayed static and 1.2 with it connected the figure changed up and down with throttle changes.
That's not to say it's reading it correctly as it may be faulty. As I've got one being delivered, I'll wait and see what happens when I swap it out.

Will update here when it arrives, hopefully Saturday.

Well, replaced MAF, car goes like poo of a shovel now!

The mesh on the MAF was all clogged up with bits and bobs that had been sucked in.

The reason? Bloody indy replaced the filter with one that was too small! Hence stuff being pulled through!
Grrrrrrrrrrrr...
