Technical Ulysese cut out on dual carriage way

Was Driving in the fast lane of a dual carriage way when suddenly a light came on the dash board followed by all the lights and then lost power and accelerator not doing anything. Had to swing over to hard shoulder and get towed home. The first light that came on was the ignition/fuel feed diagnosis light.

Any ideas what the problem is. The car now wont start at all. I was very low on petrol but I have ran out of petrol before and that light didn't come on.

what year is your Ulysse.
On our 2004 petrol ulysse, the fuel gauge does not read true, when you have a quarter of a tank showing on the gauge there is only a couple of litres of fuel left, could be sticking sender unit.

Does'nt just affect petrol models, my diesel guage tells me there is 20 litres left when it runs out
Put some fuel in and try again !!!
