hey guys/girls
iv just bought a 2005 2.2l diesel ulysee from a garage,i had no idea it had build it sat nav because this wasnt mentioned in the ad for the car, when i got there he explained the sat nav wasnt operational! i took the car anyway thinking i could get it fixed, having since taken the car to an auto electrician he claims to be able to find no info at all on how to get the sat nav working again, but seems to think its just not wired up correctly because the car has a different head unit fitted,do any of you guys have any info? could this just be a simple case of needing to find an origional ulysee cd player?
thanks for reading and any advise is welcomed :)

A lot depends on whether the car originally had an RT3 unit fitted. Does your car have a round black panel below the gear lever with a rotary selector? Labelled "Main", "Nav", etc.? Or does it have a coin holder? If the latter it never had SatNav or a car phone.

hi,thanks for the reply
yes the car has both actually, right under the gear stick is i coin holder but just to the left of that is indeed like a dial you can turn that says nav/tel etc....

That's a new one on me. Usually it's one or the other - either the black selector or a blue (?) coin holder. However, sounds like your car had SatNav at one point. Without the RT3 unit the display won't function (so no error messages). Do you have the colour display between the speedo and rev counter? Or the monochrome one directly above the RT3 slot?

The RT3 is much more than a CD unit, it's a SatNav, a phone, a radio and - with the navigation disc removed, a CD player. Hopefully the wiring behind yours is still compatible with a replacement RT3.

That e-bay one is very cheap - they usually knock out at £220 or more. I don't even want to begin to think of the new price. Certainly into four figures.

Probably means coin holder in the pull out drinks holder or ashtray? can't check at the mo as the missus has gone to work in it but I know ours has got one somewhere!
