like some sort of special training and a plan on how it operates?
... ban lorries from over taking restricting them to inside lane use only same with coaches and buses + all other restricted vehicular travel ie post man vans etc
i dont see how banning buses and coaches from overtaking trucks is a good idea
HGV (Trucks):- limited to 90km/h
PSV (coaches/buses):- limited to 120km/h
what other restricted vehicles are their? anything over 7.5 tonnes legally requires a Tacho. iirc post vans aren't tacho'd nor is there any legal requirement for them to be they're basically privately owned couriers.
All RM vans are speed limited
What condition are their tyres in though! This picture was taken of the front right tyre of an RM van!!!! Told him and he was shocked. Turned up next day with a new tyre on that cornerI expected him to be arsey but he was grateful

He did say he'd checked it. Tbh it was on the very inside of the tyre and could only be seen because the wheel was turned all the way out. Tyre still had sufficient tread. He cant be arsy given he will have filled in a check list to say he checked that tyre that morning, as part of the daily checks they are obliged to do
I know for a fact RM are in a flap just now about stuff like that and the fines int cant hit them with

Silly H+S rules meant he couldn't change the tyre!!!
if coaches are limited to 75 how come they overtake me when i am doing 80?

Lorries are vital to the economy.
Remember when the M8 was closed last year (or was it early this year?). Cost the Scottish economy hundreds of millions of pounds.
Ideally, you'd have super motorways, with two dedicated lanes for HGVs and wide loads, with drop off points in each major city, featuring massive sorting depots and then smaller vehicles to take the goods to their locations.
In an even idealererer world, you'd have motorways dedicated to HGVs and wide loads, and seperate ones for smaller vehicles/buses etc.

It still had tread, it was just that the tread was delaminating.you saved him 3points, if my van has bad tyre's we get the points.
Surely in an ideal world you'd take the heavy goods between major conurbations by train...then use light vehicles for final delivery or is that madness?
It's still far better to have freight going on trains though.Maybe in a massive country. Logistically, the UK is small enough for pure HGV transport.
Local BBC radio rolled out the parent of a kid who had been ran over and killed in the street during their discussion on the proposed 80mph motorway limit.
If I hadn't been driving to work I'd have phoned up and berated them for taking advantage of this poor woman. Of course she's going to call for lower speed limits - but what has that got to do with motorways? One thing to note is the proposed 80mph limit would only be available on some motorways. The road safety minister made a good point that most people drive at a speed they are comfortable at, taking into account the conditions at the time.
