Technical Uconnect Live

Fiat says that my Fiat 500X with Uconnect Nav 5" from June 2015 is not upgradable for Uconnect Live services ?
UconnectLive Sorry:(Uconnect LIVE services are not enabled on your vehicle

It's annoying me very much. Does anybody have the same issue.

When you say that "FIAT says", who is fiat in this case? The local dealer?

As far as I know, the "radio" and "5 radio" options did not have the Live "apps" feature. The optional "6,5 radio LIVE" came prepared for the extra features. But, contrary to what I believe, the uconnect website says that there is a "5 radio LIVE" (https://www.driveuconnect.eu), weird eh?

Also, many European countries did not get Live on any radio option, even on the 6,5 radio LIVE. For example, my car is fitted with 6,5 radio LIVE (production Jan-Feb 2015) but here in Greece Live is still not available for my car (as per the dealer). I was told this was due to legal privacy issues, because the uconnect Live application sends full tracking data back to FIAT, something not allowed by local privacy laws, even if there is "implicit" user consent.

Today the dealer tried set up Uconnect Live Service.
Again not cured, the Uconnect Live Service is still not available on my 500X.
He has to contact the Fiat main office next week.


What a disaster....

Hmm stupid question but I assume you have downloaded the Uconnect app to ur phone and set up account and have Internet access set on your mobile of choice, Ie hotspot for apples and tethering and personal hotspot for androids?

After months of discussion the final statement of Fiat
Anyway it's not possible to upgrade the uconnect system for live services.
No excuses, no flowers, nothing.

I just tested the uconnect live app from Google play (version 1.4.0) and it also gave me the same error message, that my car does not support live services.

But last week I got a call from my dealer to take the car back to them for nessesary updates that are due via a campaign that is open for my car. This update was released in January.

I'll report back on my findings once the update is complete.

Just to add my info to your discussion, my 500x bought on Oct 2015 is a 1.4 multiair Lounge with 5' Uconnect Live and Live services are functioning. I have installed the relative app to my iPhone and till today automatically Uconnect has made two system updates. With the second update, among others, Uconnect provides Live services to navigation such as traffic info, weather info to destination etc.

I have a 500X from July with dat nav and DAB radio and I experienced the exactly same issue and confronted my Fiat dealer. Thet told me that my var was missing a module so no live connections for me. I just thought it was standard on u-connect on the 500X. I wonder why they put "connect" into the name.

Fiat stated that 500X cars as from production-date September 2015 have the Uconnect Live service enabled.

My live services have hardly ever worked (August 2015 reg) been back in to dealer loads of times. Supposed to be coming back to me after I have asked for a replacment radio.

I have the same issue, my car was delivered in June 2015. It does have all the U-Connect Live functions and buttons but it just doesn't work. My dealer tried a lot of updates but nothing didn't work (also my parkassist is still not working by the way). Then I registered a official complaint at Fiat, they statet that it was clearly communicated that U-Connect live is not available. But on every leaflet, website or instructions manual there is no mentioning of this "feature". They told me "No don't have any right to get U-Connect live so we're not going to do a thing". Not even a "sorry", it seems to be all my fault. After that I got 1 email and 2 phone surveys to see how happy I was with Fiat. You can imagine my reaction. Fiat seems to care more about the "process" then the customer itself. This will probably my last Fiat.....

A very poor response from Fiat on that. Feels like a muck up during the initial car build process. They definitely should be adding whatever module is needed to get it working.

Likewise tied to connect to U connect, should be called Can't connect, and would no do so. I've managed this ONCE, the day after we took delivery of the car, it was connected for nearly 40 minutes and updated, I think, successfully. Since then, CANT'T ONNECT to U Connect.....
Italian style and panache ..and not much else. Looks like the trip to the dealership is now due, and will get in before they start taking the 66 plate orders...it's a good time to do so ad they don't want yo outside with a windscreen sticker saying " Buy at your peril". To be fair, our dealers delivered car 4 weeks early, and touching wood, they have been great, and good coffee from Ross at RICHARD Hardie in Ashington.

I noticed that I kept being logged out of unconnect when I was using the app on an android phone, in frustration I purchased an iPhone 5 loaded the app and the connection is so much more stable. I check the the services are running on the app before getting in the car, if not log in and my live traffic updates work a dream. The app has recently been updated, is your phone able to support the latest app, check the requirements on the app page.
