Hello!

My 1.2 is still not turbo, but I was wondering about possible problems with the standard clutch.

Two guys that I know made turbo conversions and have big big clutch slipping problems.

One engine is a 1.2 bored to almost 1.4 with tjet pistons but standard crank, so it's more a 1.3 , other is a tjet with normal fire gearbox (I always make confusion with C510 - c514).

The 1.3 has an used 200mm flywheel with it's clutch, the tjet has a copper clutch with standard pressure plate (bad choice in my opinion but the clutch guy thinked it will be fine) and both are slipping like hell with the TD04 turbo at 0,5 bar (so really not very much hp).

How this could be?

I never heard about this big terrbile clutch problems in any 1.2 conversion, but I know if you're going really hard with hp the standard clutch isn't enough, but we're talking about over 200nm and I think over 140 hp, and that's a lot, and they're not reached with a td04 at 0,5 bar.

What's your experience?

I always knew that the standard clutch should be enough for me but now I started to worry about and would'nt like to buy a new standard clutch and then have it slipping when turbo goes in (now it's burn by too much drags and slips even without turbo).

Do you have an idea about the standard 180mm clutch limits? My target was around 140 150 hp and don't know the torque but I think it should be around 200nm, so maybe it will not be enough... :( Or it's okay?

So the 180 mm is good only for low boost or bit more, not real turbo... (n)

Pretty much, although the issue does seem to be with the boost spike created by the T15 -- a bigger turbo might offer less of a spike.

There's a thread in the Cinq/Sei section by Tricker (the guy who did the 40mm TBs) who managed fine with a stock sized clutch and flywheel, but his set up was very different to everyone else.

Who makes uprated (really uprated) pressure plates?

I found only +20 30% and at crazy prices (150 180 gbp) and that's really not enough. (n)
