Tuning turbo time!

Tuning turbo time!

well it runs! and it drives! and oh gawd its loud. ive installed ignition map (the time before boost comes on is REALLY advanced which i guess makes sense to gain power)
ive shifted my N/A map (basically pushed everything down into the off boost parts) and filled all the on boost parts with zero.
Its like hitting a brick wall when boost comes in but at least i can use my car for a bit
aint got time to do much else. gotta put a 1.1 into the donor car and get that back to standard

Ill get videos up tonight

yes but thats a pain in the arse. also its only for a short time. im going to fill in the boost part of the map tonight with some rich values and let the lambda match up to the AFR map.

btw im still running my p75 injectors. if i fit the larger ones do i just update the REQ-fuel and leave the map as it is. or do i need to adjust the map the same percentage as the new injectors (i think there about 20% larger)

Arg, on boost ego correction , i don;'t run ego at all, but i def wouldn't up in booost.

p75 won't cut it i don't think, but new injectors will propably require a new fuel map. The opening, spray pattern etc will all affect the fuelling a lol. TO get in the ball park, you can adjust req_fuel, or there is an option to rescale the map.

Log duty cycle, anything over 80% is too high, and VE in the fuel table above about 150 are getting too high also.

Good luck with it :D

What type, make, size etc are the p75 injectors?

How much advance is loads of advance off boost?

the injectors on my n/a are 230cc or 213cc and i sometimes run up to 84% duty on WOT at max torque. Hopefully they will be ok though. Possibly get some coupe or bosch green injectors, or iwp045's depending on whats going to fit the rail and inlet best.

Id also suggest injectors from a punto GT or vauxhall c20xe(red top non turbo) iv got the red top ones in right now but there getting changed next week

whats the spec of the internals? Is it low comp pistons or decomp plate? Know the CR?

Just supprised it feel slike the n/a. Been in a turbo cinq and the style of driving was totally differrent.

Fancy a look at some point if thats cool. can help you road map now its in :D

well ive rebuilt it all to my spec now.

16valve pistons which knock the compression down to 7.8:1 (according to tricker)
ignition map is made for a 8:1 CR so close enough I think.

I meant it feels about as quick as the N/A with .4bar. yeh it is different to drive.

yeh thats fine. just gotta fix a couple of oil/boost leaks and it should be ready for more boost. definatly going to have the ecu control the radiator fan me thinks. car is still over heating in traffic. but randomly. seeing as its a new engine it cant be that so im guessing its the fan thermostat dying.

cool :D I had a go at making my own when this trouble started. it under cooled the engine! tried all combinations of spring/stat/seat/spacer

its strange some times it idle all day and the temps wont budge. then others is will just go thru the roof. fan wont come on but radiator is really hot. found out the other day if i bodge the fan on it will cool down really quick... then slowly under cool (which i guess it will if the fans on at idle)
