Technical Towing a Punto ELX Speedgear?

My question is quite simple:

Can the Punto ELX Speedgear be towed with all four wheels on the ground?

I always thought the answer was no BUT, someone who has one of these tows it behind his motorhome!

Any help appreciated.

I believe as the speedgear isn't a true automatic gearbox this is probably ok if in neutral, though you shouldn't really tow any car for long periods as the forces in the gear box are opposite from what the engine would apply in normal use.

Basically I don't think it would do much harm.

My Punto is a 52 plate and I think I need to acertain whether it's a CVT version driven by a steel belt as this might mean it's not towable!

no its not ok, they must not be towed.
your 52 is ecvt with metal belt do not tow, if you are stuck and have no choice remove drive shafts, no fluid will come out
