Technical Today I was bored so I repared vacuum advance regulator :)

Rubber is taken from tire tube and it's twice thicker than original, so I think this repared regulator should last much longer. I used glue for sealant. It works like new.

How did you get the casing open - and then how did you get it closed again? That's the part that always puts me off!

With a saw I cut segments 1cm long and bent them with a screwdriver. It's easy job. Closing was a little harder, for bending I used pilers for cutting wire.

A better way would be to use a Dremel or similar tool and make more cuts like this. It would be much easier to close it.

Well done for finding a way to repair the notoriously weak vacuum advance unit

I have a few duff spare units lying around. If I get some time I might give it a go myself :chin:
