To Clean Or Not To Clean?

To Clean Or Not To Clean?

i think cleaning the engine is a load of crap too, why waste money on having a shiney engine

fair enough if its something special but mine aint, no-one gets to see under the bonnet apart from me or a mechanic

IF for example i was running a tuned 1.2 turbo'd with stainless pipe work, a stainless manifold, blue rocker cover, blue ecu and red hosing/leads then i prob would keep it lookin good.

BUT as my engine is bog standard i dont really wanna show it off so only wipe it clean every now and again to check for oil leaks, other weird stuff!

my opinion is that by giving the engine bay a really good regular clean you get to know all the bits and pieces and can possibly spot any problems, also its a sign of a well kept and maintained car and the added benifit is it looks bliiiiiiiiiiiiing!! :D

perfectly valid point.... but i dont really have enough time to do stuff like that, takes me 2 hours just to clean an polish the thing, and cause of my job i dont have masses of free time.

i just give it a wipe whenever i am under there..... the bonnet that is!

its called muc off, spray it on, leave it for about a min, rinse off with normal water.

of course u have to let her dry out a bit, but cleans it up really really well, can only usually b assed to d around the headgasket seal tho lol

its an easy mistake, i tend to do most of the stuff to my car on a friday, which most probably mean im still drunk from thursday night

so these 'little' mistakes happen, i got stuck to my car on a friday too i think

a clean engine is much easier to work on, :) once its clean if you do it regularly it shouldnt cost nothing, before i work on an engine i clean them with a parafin thing that goes on the end of a compresser. you get covered in a parafin type fog but it stops s hit getting in places where it shouldnt be,
