Being drivers door, the wiring to the door takes a lot of movement, so unpeel the wiring sheath and look for breaks. Test with a volt meter power to/from the window switch and to the motor, oh and check the fuse. Listen to here if the motor clicks when you press the switch. if so, its the window guides that are stopping the window moving or the motor's gearbox. I cannot remember if the drivers door feeds off the passenger or vise versa.

Also check the wire connections within the door in my case these needed cleaning and WD40, then the window worked again.
At risk of hijacking this thread can I ask about the related problem of noisy window opening/closing. I have lubricated the motor track previously to no avail. The door was crowbarred open once by theives. It was expertly bent back by a bodyshop and looks/works fine but I am wondering if a slight deflection in the angle/curve of the guides could cause a noisy motor?

long time no visit!!!! sounds like your internal mech in the motor is breaking down, my old Sedi was the same just before it packed up.... if and when it does go capput ive got one....

Ok - I know where to come then ! I beleive they used the same motor despite the window being much bigger? - as the motors used to struggle on my 3 door
In fact the motors are actually different, 3 wont go in a 5 dr and vica versa, im currently breaking a 5dr 2.0 8v so got all you need...(sorry for canvassing)....

Could be motor gearbox going or glass sticking. Spray silicone onto the runners.

Thanks for your reply and to others too. Have got everything apart. Motor spins when dissconnected, track dry and sticky especially on curve(window closed-where it stuck originally) Driven by many small ball bearings in motor drive sheath I lost some of them as was unaware! take cre if trying this. Will lube everything and reassemble. Drive on lots of gravel roads in NZ so dust an issue also. A generic fault of tipos these windows?
