Technical Ticking noise :(

Hi all,

there is a ticking noise coming from the engine. it doesn't go away when warmed up. its a 2.0 8v. it sounds tappety - could it be that simple... ?

idle control valve? Try unplugging that.

If the part arrowed in each pic are the same (can't quite see in your pic), then that can be a noisey bugger! Mine buzzes like a demented wasp.
