Thule door bike rack xt elite

Hi Guys. I have purchased and fitted a new Thule bike rack to the rear door on my Ducato. On the instructions (mostly images) I saw that Sila is applied to the rear of the fixing plates 48 hrs before fitting. I took this as beads of silicone to protect the paint work. Have I done right or should it be an actual glue???

Is it mechanically fixed ?( drilled and bolted)

If not.. then google some of your terms quoted

No mate, no where does it say bolt on. It is fixed to the sides of the door by brackets.
