After paying £180 for a service last Friday I should at least expect my car to be screwed togeather properly.

The past few days I've heard a bit of knocking from the engine, but through nothing of it.. Just started it, and rattle rattle etc, I lift the bonnet and the air filter isn't even connected to the engine.. I know it may have come loose after the service, but christ, the bolts should be tight huh?

At my recent service they couldn't check the brake pads as the locking wheel nuts couldn't be found (they were in the glovebox) and apparently they only look in obvious places, which is also why they failed to stamp the service book (which was keeping the wheel lock company;)) and to zero the service indicator.

They also chipped one of my alloys; which they deny[}:)]

Fiat UK themselves are little better, they can't even get back to me about a complaint I made to them about another dealers incompetance[}:)]

I love my Stilo, its good to drive, well equipped and good looking, BUT I am seriously thinking about changing it because the impression I am getting is that FIAT don't care less about the UK market.

Rant over;)

Oh dear, they dont seem to get any better! Ive waited 3 months now for my paint problem to be sorted out, no news on a date still...

Well the local dealers have only now decided they are not going to charge me for fixing the boot they broke when servicing the car before Xmas 2003. I think it will be going elsewhere for it's next service.

Seems to be a bit of a common thread - you ought to see my little tale of woe here... https://www.fiatforum.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10777

Well after an unsuccesfull whinge to some numpty at the Fiat call centre today I was all set to go and trade my Stilo in for a Skoda, until the salesman (who's total dick factor equaled those at the Fiat dealer) offered me £6,000 for my 7month old JTD Dynamic 3door.

Fair enough my miles are high at 12k, but still a £7200 drop?[:0][:0][:0]

Ouch!! But I have to ask, reliable and reasonably well made Skodas are... they are soooo dull, try something else!

James, keep your Stilo!

I think you are a virgin in the Italian car market, experience would have told you that residuals are really bad, in this country, if you buy FIAT, Alfa or Lancia, you lose sooooooooooooooooooooo much money it's criminal! :(

Nuovapanda, think vRS, I was;)

TC, I know mate, I expected to take a hit, but the loss in value here is criminal.

Mind you, I've been having a look on Autotrader and I reckon he was having a laugh, I'd bet anyone if I'd sold to him he would have put my Stilo up for £9999.

Fiat in Nottingham are just as bad. Over the past week I've paid £237 to have some repairs done to my car to stop a few problems I'm having. well got the car back and it was fine for a day then the same problems started. Not happy after paying all that money. Also the boot carpet was damp and smelt of shampoo, so they must of spilt something on it. They also left one of there tools on in the boot too. Now what they were doing in the boot I don't know as all the work they needed to do was under the bonnet. Also when I checked the work they had done, they had bent my dip stick so it was pretty much at a right angel!!!

The car is back with Fiat today, so with luck, they sort all this out, but I'm not holding my breath.

Punto 55 SX all in black... That's my bitch!

HAH!!! Skoda dealers now they really take the ****!!!!!!!!!!!!
my dad had a Skoda once......not anymore
they don`t hold there value ant better than anything else!
no more reliable or economical either. plenty boring tho!

I know this is an old thread but I don't like to hear a bad word about Skodas - my experience has been great.

My mate has a Fabia 1.4, it's nothing special but it's got so much space in it, and cheap, it seems powerful and it does 52mpg even though he drives like a ****.

My dad has a 1.9td Octavia, it's a fantastic car. I think it looks good too better than the Fabia. Big powerful Mondeo size car, it returns 62mpg ever since we bought it two years ago. No problems with the dealer either when we had a small problem (parking sensors). A great car and about £3grand cheaper than the opposition - and for further proof taxi drivers everywhere are getting them and so are the police I've seen several Octavia vrs's around and some Fabias as 'Panda' cars.

Well guys, i had my Barchetta serviced by Priory motor group in Cambridge a couple of years back, they also changed the front discs/pads for me. The service seemed to take an age, and around 4 hours later they approached me all sheepishly and told me there was a problem. The manager told me that they had had an accident getting the car onto the ramp and it had dropped off the side!
They had damaged a wheel and were in the process of replacing it with a new tyre, which i thought was fair enough. When i went outside to look at the car, the service guy offered me a slightly different explanation. He said that they had taken the car for a test drive and lost control of it and hit the kerb! It gets worse.
Not only did the manager lie to me, he hadnt had the car checked over before i started to drive it away. I parked up down the road to just make sure all was Ok and i noticed the rear wheel on the back was now buckled with a large bulge in the tyre wall!
Needless to say i went back there straight away and gave them such a B******ing.
The manager appologised and said all the work (£600 worth in total) was free as a gesture of goodwill (i also made them check all the wheel alignments/camber etc and wanted to see a report, which they did). Fair enough i thought but guess what, 2 days later i got the bill and they threatened legal action if i didn't pay. I didn't and eventually they gave up trying.
I only have 1 very short comment to say about Fiat dealers, but its not printable on these pages.

All this sounds oh so familiar.A had a brand new Punto in 2000 and when i took it for it's first warranty service, and I got a bill for £90.I thought fair enough but looked at the invoice and they only did an oil and filter change. So i asked "did you change the plugs and air filter?" he said " no we only do that at 24000 miles or every two years"!..................I had paid £90 for an oil and filer change! :bang:
Simarlary, when i got my Marea, they wanted £250 to do a full service or else it would void my warranty.I did the hole thing myself for £70 and probably done a better job so beware of the dreadded main dealer! they maybe "specialists" buy they still employ out of school monkeys who air gun sump plugs on! and wheel spin your car on road tests
