I've just purchased a Marea 100sx, it has 52,000 on the clock and looks in great condition. However it has just started giving me a sever headache as it just won't start up!

The started motor kicks in and spins away, but the engine won't catch. I call out a local breakdown recovery company and on looking at the engine they advised that there was no spark at the spark plugs and towed it to their garage..... where it fired up first time the following day. However after dI picked it up and drove it home and left it park for a few hours, it failed to start again!

I have tried all three keys (2 blue, 1 red) and it still won't start. The keycode indicator doesn't stay on when I turn the car over but I suspect that the problem lies with the immobilizer as there is no spark from the plugs.

Has anyone seen or heard of this problem before?

Hello , and welcome to the forum, i dont know if its relevant but mine has an immobilizer thats turned on/off via a tumbler type key hidden in the fuseboard , below right of the steering wheel. Its prob not the answer but someone like venters, dave, bulldog will read your thread and throw you a list of possible answers. Their a knowlegeable lot around here(y).
Hope you get it sorted mate

There are so many possibilities that it is difficult to advise you. Apart from the immobiliser, there could be a problem with one of the sensors such as the crank position sensor, if the ecu doesn't get the right input from all the sensors it will prevent the engine from starting to stop potentially serious damage occurring.
Your local fiat specialist or main dealer might be the best way forward.
