Hi all, I just bought a 1996 fiat uno 2 door (panelvan) effort. its had a whole wack of crap done to it which complicates things. please note its had a full on bodykit and entire freeflow exhaust + immobilizer fitted which could be part of the problems.

(1) When I start the car it runs sweet.. purrs like a kitten on steroids. but i try turn on my lights bright. and googoogoogGGG engine cuts out. I know as much about cars as darth vader knows about asthma medication. but i hazard a guess that its either battery related (brand new battery) this thing has got immobilizers and all kinds of crap wired in but ive disconnected the damn thing. call me fussy but Ide just like to be able to drive my car at night with the headlights on if you know what I mean.

(2) Ive got knocking! from my backend... (the cars) damn annoying. with my expert car knowledge i diagnosed it as a loose spare wheel. but its not... could be shocks or that fat exhaust thats been fitted. But your guesses are better then mine.

Thats all for now and Ide really appreciate any input.

Thanks all.

give the exhaust a good shake to see if its striking.
as for the engine cutting out under electrical load i would look to the alternator.
get a multimeter and put it across the +/- terminals of the battery with the engine running.now turn on all the electricals you can.i would say headlights but if it causes the engine to cut out then done ;)
with the electrical items on the reading on the multimeter should be around 13.5/14 volts.
if not the alternator isnt putting out enough charge.also check for a lose alternator belt and poor connections/earths

as for the knocking from the back, check the exhaust pipe. (shake it really good). it could be that the mounting of the shock absorbers is loose as well (try to pull it up from inside the trunk really hard).

about the lights issue, check that the earth connections are ok both at transmission and body.
