on tuesdays they have a motoring supplement. one section, "car choice" invariably recommends the panda for people after small cars, the punto for something a little bigger. and today, a quite good write up for the new croma. long may it continue!

As opposed to the Daily Mail, in which this morning I read that Fiat was voted 2nd worst car maker in some dodgy survey. Worst was Peugeot, and what do I drive at the moment? Yep, a 307! Shame that I don't think my wife (who buys the paper and reads it) would want a switch to the independant.

But if you look at claim statistics from after market warranty companies, Fiat comes out very well with a low cost to fix and a fast repair time. These figures are based on actual claims and not on people's perceptions.

I think the Panda is a great car having has one as a courtesy car.

My parents neighbour has had a new Ford Fiesta and so far, the electric window motors had failed both sides, she is just having her 3rd clutch in 20K miles. The 1st clutch was changed under warranty but they are refusing to pay for this one even though it is only 13 months old and it is not her driving. The cost of this is over £500.00. The power steering pump failed and they wanted just under £500 just for the part, but Ford did eventually agree to pay for it.

How can they charge £500+ for a clutch on a car which can be bought new for less than £8000.
