Had the cam belt replaced by my local garage three weeks ago. My 1.2L petrol Panda now has an occasioonal misfire, sometimes going into limp mode, sometimes with emgine management light flashing, sometimes not. Before replacing the cam belt it never had a problem. Stopping and restarting the engine clears the limp mode/flashing EML, maybe for up to twenty miles.

The car was returned to the garage where they changed spark plugs, which were fairly new anyway, checked cam and crankshaft sensors, and changed the ignition coil pack without clearing the problem. I have performed several phonic wheel relearns (hopefully), without ultiECU Scan, revving to 6000 for three seconds, and returning to idle three times, then switching off for a minute and still have the misfire.

The garage have returned the car to me, and admit they are unable to find the fault.

The breather pipes to the air cleaner have been checked and cleaned and the air filter changed. The MAP sensor has been cleaned with methylated spirits. No change.

Nowhere can I see whether a cure has been discovered, although it appears to be an extremly common problem with Euro 6 engines, and someone must have discovered a remedy.

Can anyone please help me?

Thanks for the prompt reply Jack. No mil, everything looked normal.
I think the mil has to be flashing to do the revving procedure for phonic wheel learn.
Coolant needs to be at normal operating temp.

Posts appear to show Mil normally starts flashing if vehicle speed reaches 70mph.

I let the engine tick over until the fan came on twice. Don't know if this is necessary, but did it anyway. I'll take it out later tonight and get it up to 70mph. So far I've only dared go on country lanes where 55mph is reckless.
The instructions for the various procedures are not always clear or complete enough. It might be a good idea to have a pool of expert, proven procedures described in detail, unless there is such a thing.

Found a clear road and did 70mph and the mil started flashing. Performed the phonic wheel relearn, but a few miles later it entered limp mode. Repeated the complete procedure as above, still no cure. Could a Fiat main dealer clear the fault using their possibly better diagnostic equipment?
