Got into my Stilo this morning...(Had it one week now and still loving it!)

And I noticed a message popping up telling me that there maybe ice on the road!!

Anyone else noticed this before! Nice of the car to tell me!!

Stan....

it pops up at 4c and below if I remember rightly.

On the note of cold weather. argh! its bloody freezing today, that wind is icy as hell and that frost last night, my car was pure white (considering its a black car), and was a very thick covering at that

i know what you mean about the COLD!!, i waent out to move the car, and discover that all the door locks were frozen!! had to get in THROUGH the boot :p

all the windows were frozen like someone had poured wasted on em, but alsoon the inside! after scraping the ice from the inside, had looked like it had snowed :D

the car started :)D im so proud :D ) went to open the window, cuz i coulntd hear the engine over the heater, to find it frozen!!! and now stuck!,:bang: had to drive the bloomin' thing round till it defrosted! :D

byw my cars a cinq, im sure stilos are better padded ;)

the large car myth is shattered, that used to happen on my mk2 Rover 200 :)
I used to take the deicer into work with me in case the doors frose shut

haha memorys.. i remember that on our old cinq!

Nightmare the other morning ..... no gritting had happened whatsoever .... came off the main road and just felt the wheels spin freely for a second ... and then noticed the white sheen on the road .... had to trundle along at 20mph for 4 miles! Would ASR have helped on a skiddy road surface like that? If so looks like I'll have to upgrade sooner rather than later (wanted a 1.8 anyway)

ASR/TC doesn't really help if the road is that icy - once you got momentum and the car goes/slips away, nothing will stop it unless you sling a 5 ton anchor out of the back, lol.

Dont you have ASR on your 1.6 Dynamic? I do!

Nope just a city button that I never use .... bought it second hand and it was the best car for the money .... is yours a 53 plate as well?

ps I find the car grips the road well anyway without any electronic trickery!

Yeah mine is an 2003 1.6 Dynamic - think thats 53 plate?! im from NI so we have different regs. Mine has the city button and ASR button, which is always on... I agree the handling is generally good but i assumed the ASR was as standard.

I bought mine used.

had the same problem yesterday car was froze, so I de iced the screen and other windows, got in the car ok no problem, started etc, but cause the car was iced up door would not shut had to use the central locking button to keep it shut until i got to work. Also mine is a 51 plate and it has city and asr on it :D

Ive got the ASR on my 1.8 53' plate, just read you guys saying you drive with your ASR on in the snowy(ish) weather; when i was under the impression that i was told not to use ASR in these weather condition so everytime i start her up and the ice warning comes on; i turn the ASR off.
