Thanks for saving my Brava 1.4

I know this is my first post but the info posted on here has saved my 1.4 brava from an early death!

I knew nothing of the spray bar until reading this forum. I was getting a tictictic noise which I put down to my relaxed attitude towards servicing. Then I read that it usually happened on cars with low use... like mine...

Long and short is yesterday I had the rocker cover off and my spray bar was clogged to hell and there was definitly not enough oil getting to the cam. Good, as I fixed that and changed the oil.

Still got a buggered cam that I will have to change 1 question - if I drive steady will a worn cam do any other damage (other than to components available in the cam kit?)

shouldn't do any additional damage no. your cat may end up knackered though if you are expelling unburnt fuel into the exhaust system. Its unlikely, but i reckon its a possibility.
When are you planning on replacing the cam?

Hiya

I'm planning on doing the cam as soon as I get the bits. Currently I am having to use if for the 3 mile trip to/from work and it is sounding pretty bloody rough!

I'm doing the cam myself with the aid of some new tools and a hayes manual. going to do the timing belt too there are some good priced cam kits and timing belt kits on ebay
Working on the basis that if I arse it up I can still sell the car (or break it) for a couple of hundred notes. I was planning on a change of motor in a couple of months anyway!

THanks for the donation info - will be doing that cos this site is a great resource.
