So whats the plan for the cinq then?

A rebuild? Broken up to sell? Or scavenged the best bits for an ongoing project?

So glad to hear that the car is to be rebuilt, we nearly lost a bit of cento-history there, phew. Its a real shame about the wheels though, custard where you get them from in the first place?

And although we know Custard is gonna miss his baby, i'm sure nontheless he'll be glad to see it up and running again..

And congrats on your new purchase, be sure to keep the updates coming in on your progress and take lots of pics

ebay for the wheels but they were just 2nd hand.came of a sei that had done a few 1000 miles on them.
couldnt find any info on them im afraid

yes i will keep you all posted about its progress not going to be a quick job though as the car is in a lock up 35 miles from my house :( im going up this weekend to get the screen in and have a good look what needs doing. I am a mechanic so i don't mind the mechanical parts and i know a great bodyshop who painted my 4x4 sisley panda the one allen fletcher now owns they always make a first class job so they will be doing the spraying. i want to trace its history custard gave me a great history file with it but i have heard it was in a few magazines anyone know which and when?

one of the mags that featured yours was Auto italia, Nov/Dec '97 Issue :)

If you contact VA for info could you ask about scott chapmans old car too :D keep meaning to phone them to see if they have any old pics or details (would love to try contact scott and see if he has any pics of it through the stages etc) and dont want to annoy them if you're doing the same

yes mate im going to write to them and see what they have and i will ask them for you whats the story behind that one then? (forgive my ignorance).

What i know of it was yours was the demo car and mine the show car i think  mine was owned by a guy who worked there called scott chapman. Not sure if mine or yours was the first high boost, but mine got taken into a roundabout on its first outing (i think was first outing) and promptly had the turbo engine dropped out in favour of a standard one for insurance claim purposes. Then re-turbo'd after the claim. Practically all the receipts while scott chapman owned the car were from van aaken (presumably because he worked there) was featured in max power in June 2000 with www.VanAaken.com along the back of the car (further adds to how it may have been sponsored by them perhaps?)

Anyway it was sold by scott in 2000 or 2001 and not much history for a while bar servicing receipts, really it didnt get any further mods done until it got to me :) the owner before the guy i bought the car off was the unlucky soul who had to pay for HG and a load of other stuff including boost delimiter, he came on here asking advice back then too lol under the username Sk8funk thing that really made me laugh was looking back at my comment at the time about my exact car

Hope you manage to get the price you want for it buddy :) if i had the money i'd snap your hands off for it :(

oh the irony lol :p

thanx mate love the bit about swapping the engine after the crash:D i will get a letter sorted to van aaken and will ask if they have anything on them whats your reg? (pm me if you want) i will include it in the letter. how many kits where sold? i cant wait to drive it, i first tried to buy it just after it was for sale at brooklands in 05 but custard beat me to it :( how long has my car had van aaken down the side i know it was not on when it was in auto italia but it looks like it has been on a while now and what about the strut brace was that part of the kit? sorry so many questions:eek:

Reg is R937GAN :) great fun to drive (y) still to this day allow more space for overtaking than it needs  lol

Not sure how long VA has been down the side though i'd say a good 7 years at least imo, which is quite a while for vinyls really  unless they've been re-done at anytime dont know.

The strut is either a novitec or hormann as they're both exactly the same , but judging by the numerous hormann goodies which van aaken imported for my car (and couple of receipts iirc) im guessing it'll be a hormann strut brace :) Not sure on amounts of kits sold actually, not something i pondered really

Just out of interest how much paperwork did yours come with from when van aaken had the car? mine has the original turbo receipt but is less than the high boost kit retailed for iirc

big pile of reciepts but non for the conversion might be because van aaken purchased the car new on 2/2/96 and kept it untill they sold it to mr fraser on 3/12/97 so im guessing if it was there own car they wouldnt bill themself:confused: and as far as i can tell mr fraser kept it untill 2/4/05 when a craig robertson in south kensington got it and then to custard oh now me:p
