Flying down to Edinburgh tomorrow to test drive the Stilo! (Well I suppose technically I am flying down for a work meeting, but...;))

Unfortunately they don't have a 3-door jtd in stock, so its a choice of a 3-door 1.6 or an Abarth (or a Multiwagon jtd). How does the Abarth suspension compare with the 3-door jtd?

Anyone driven them back to back?

Take the JTD multiwagon. I think you´ll be impressed. Oh, and yeah, the 3Dr is a bit faster and more nimble ;)

I don't think the Abarth suspension set up is any different to a standard Stilo. Can anyone clarify this?

The Abartyh is more of a Grand Tourer than an out and out track car like a Focus RS.

FIAT Stilo Sport. Pretty Much Bog Standard Really. Rear Roof Spoiler,
Sill Protectors, Aluminium Foot Pedals, Eibach 30mm Drop Springs.

Hi,
The engine is the factor for the suspension.
JTD and 2.4 are equipped with the same suspension.:)

I think weight of the care determs the type of suspension.[?]

Drive safely.

Arnold Clark's best test drive offering was a 1.2 3-door which was not nearly as slow as I was expecting. It certainly kept up with the traffic in Edinburgh. Mind you it would be no use to me as I need the power to overtake on single carriageway roads[}:)]. Steering seems crap compared to the Bravo which is disappointin as the Bravo steering is not really all that sharp. Does the jtd have the "faster rack"?
The salesman was generally pretty useless and judging by the tyre squealing from the service bays I woudn't trust their mechanics much either(not likely to ever go back even if I did buy a car from them). He offered me a basic price of £10998, + any options at brochure price, as the best he could do for a 3-door jtd - and he had never heard or seen Polar Blue which was a great help as far as choosing the colour is concerned!
I will have another go at Donald Mackenzie's in Inverness on Friday so perhaps I will have made up my mind after that.
Thanks for all of your comments and advice.
David
