Does such a thing exist? I can't afford to insure my Capri for a year (looking at well over a grand), which isn't really a prob as it's going to spend most of it's time off the road being restored anyway. But there will more than likely be an odd time that it needs to be driven (or I might just fancy going for a blat sideways on a wet roundabout ;) , so does anyone know of a insurance company that will provide cover for a few days at a time?

Some companies do do day insurance, but I think age and vehicle may be your problem... but I think that the capri is a classic in the eyes of the insurance, so you may be able to buy a limited milage 12month policy from a specialist broker which will be cheaper than conventional insurance.

I don't know about normal circumstances, but when I was younger I hired a car and the hire company made me sort out my own insurance, because their insurance only covered drivers over the age of 21 or something stupid.

At the time I was able to get insurance for 3 days, but I don't know what may have changed since then.

What a pain in the arse, I had to wait for them to fax through a cover note and all sorts of ****.

Cheers for the advice everyone, I'm going to have a ring round a few companies at the weekend and see what's what. Classic insurance looks promising, although I don't think it's going to be particularly cheap for a 21-year-old on a 2-litre Capri, especially as I've got no NCB (I've been driving for 3-and-a-half years but my cars have been insured in my dads name with me as a named driver).

I had insurance for just two weeks only this year. That was direct line so I assume more companies do it. Just phone them rather than use the internet.
