I,m trying to fit a temp gauge to 1.1 sporting (Schumacher) where can I fit the sender? it needs to be earthed. I expect that I will need to use an adapter, any suggestion as to where to get one?The sender has a 10mm diameter thread. Typical of a car manufacturer to fit a great big tacho but no water temp gauge on a car with a rad the size of a oil cooler, which from reading comments seems to be prone to overheating. The only warning you get of an overheat is a red light and a stinking anti freeze sauna from under the bonnet!

most gauges come with a few adapters. you should be able to remove the standard switch/sender unit and replace it with the one for the gauge. This will mean the light to say your car has overheated wont work anymore, but who needs that - its obvious if theres steam.

Its located (on the 1108cc SPI engine) on the back of the head, close to no1 piston (timing end). You should be able to see if easy enough

welcome to the forum btw :)

Problem with MPI Seis is that they don't have the sender on the head and the tapping point isn't drilled. A mate and I fitted one to a Sei MPI, the closest place we could think of was in the line exit the intake manifold and into the heater matrix. Sensor here is always gonna be a few degrees down on a Cinq, as it's in a slightly different place but should still be useful.

Hi, Thanks for that I thought I was going nuts. Getting the lead through the bulkhead was I thought going to be the hard bit. I think the overheat red light sensor is fitted to the outflow pipe connection which appears to be some type of plastic.
