Hi all,

Slight problem with my temperature gauge. On monday travelling to work i noticed the gauge was on the highest level, max red! I had a guy check it over at work and he filled the engine coolant with water slightly as the coolant seemed empty, the gauge no longer goes to red but goes a mark below the max red, its when i'm on the motorway that it gets high or if i'm driving over 40-50mph. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what the fault could be, checked engine oil which isn't contaminated. Could it be a sensor fault. Fan seems to be working fine.

Is it actually overheating? If it is, stop letting it! Could be that the thermostat and temp sensor need replacing (thats an easy and relatively cheap DIY job) Could be an airlock in the cooling system, which again, is an easy enough DIY fix.

How do i get an airlock out of cooling system, is it a matter of keeping heater on & adding water to radiator?
