Technical Temp gauge not working- fan on from start

I just had the temperature sensor replaced about 3 weeks ago. Now, the engine light came on again and temp gauge is not working, fan in engine comes on immediately when you start the engine. When this happened before the diagnostic said it was the temperature sensor, so this was replaced about 3 weeks ago but now is happening again and the temperature gauge does not work. Can anyone help. Garage cannot look at it for 2 or 3 days.

temperature sensor is directly wired to to the engine computer


all the information to operate the fans and temp gauge are sent via data exchange between the different modules. Dash, Body computer

First thing is to check the connector is secure


with the connector unplugged it will read zero. One of the pins wil have 5V reference voltage
