Hi,

Went to the dealer today and they were unable to offer a solution to the poor telephone mic quality. Apparently they have replaced a few on other cars and it has made no difference.

They were quite happy for me to try some other mics and were also keen to see if I could improve on the audio quality.

I'll let you know when I have tried a few.

Same here - I am glad I don't use the car phone on a daily basis; if I did, I would have found another solution by now.

Fiat Ulysse 2.2JTD Eleganza, 53 plate, with options :D Angel Tuning [see ad] tuned ;)

Well I have to admit that doing the foam trick as suggested on the EV2 forum did make a marked difference, but it's still not as good as it ought to be. Without the foam is realt bad cr*p, with the foam it's just cr*p. At least it's usable now, but I'd like for it to be better. [V]

I've only had my Ulysse for 3 weeks, and I havn't used the phone
in it that much, so please forgive me sticking my nose in here -
but the mic in my car seems just fine to me; and I've now been at
both ends of the call: echo cancellation (in terms of the person
calling the car hearing their own voice) could be a little better,
but my mic seems to pick up what it's meant to, including the voices
of folks sitting further back. Maybe it's seen an improvement?

Hi,

Maybe you have a different mic in your car, doesn't it sound really flat to people calling you. I think they use a reduced frequency response mic to reduce road noise etc, but it sounds terrible.

Anyway the garage didn't have a solution and as they had already changed some mics with no success they thought it would be a waste of time. The guys in R&D at work are now looking at it for me.

I'd try my R&D guys, but they'd want to connect it to a network, slap a load of disks at the other end, and store all of the audio (good or bad). There are times when being in the computer industry doesn't help one bit with some of life's other annoyances!

John ;)
