Hi,

Im female (hence the dumb question) and have been looking after a friends Fiat Marea whilst he has been away this year.

Basically the battery is dead and I have charged it and driven for about 30 minutes but as soon as I turned the engine off the battery was dead again.

So, apparently what I need to do is take the battery out and give it a charge from the mains. BUT, how do I get the battery out?

Someone has tried but there was a strap over the battery and there was no way of loosening it - I think it was bolted in. Any ideas what I need to do?

The car is an R reg (97/98??) but I dont know what model etc.

Halfords didnt have one of the manual books so I've found this on the web.

Thanks in advance for your help.

At the end of the strap is a metal plate which bolts down. Unbolt this and the strap can be removed.

If the battery has been flat for best part of a year it may well need a new battery. If you know someone with an intelligent charger (or if you have one yourself) it can bring some batteries back from the dead.
