Technical Tailgate won't stay up. Not gas struts.
Inspired by this thread, I fitted a pair of new "Stabilus" brand struts to my Stilo tailgate (mostly because the old ones allowed the hatch to drop onto my MOT tester's head once, and he's had the Evils for my car every since.. 
). They are far stronger than the previous (cheap/un-branded to be fair) ones and the quality difference is noticeable.
As it turned out, the MOT man didn't notice (or care?) that he didn't have to dodge the tailgate this year, and failed the car all the same... Next year (if there is a next year) I'll fit the crappy lifters just for the MOT..
