Tuning t jet tuning age?

i was wondering if a tjet could be too run in to mod eg forge intercooler, remap, abarth turbo, induction kit, exhaust etc. when upgrading the abarth punto to ss standard, the garage people told me the upgrade to the ss couldn't be done if the car had been too run in or was over a year old. is this the case on tjets? mines 14 months old with 14k miles. is it still ok to do upgrades anytime or does it depend on age or condition of the t jet?

an older looser engine is better for tuning than a newer tighter one, garage people dont know what they are on about

They only say that so that people cant come back 5 years down the road and get it fitted. Forcing it in the 1st year also means the warranty doesnt go on any longer than standard.
