T.E.D Pick-up

Introduction

I won't try and convince you that its a perfect donor car and i cant honestly tell you why i've chosen something so old but I think that its something to do with the amount of modern engineering i'll be using to make this car what its going to be. I bought something that has a removeable cab, a T-bar roof conversion and funnily enough for a pick-up, Racing heritage. This car had a tuned MGB engine, (B series obviously) and after that the famous fiat twin camm and thus has alot of the modern mechanicals that some of the lowest spec cars don't have today, anti-roll bar, vented disk brakes, PAS (not from the MGB) and servo assisted brakes. None of that really matters as i've designed a new tubular chassis for the engine that is to go in which will require widening of the vehicle by around a foot and lengthening of the cab and back by about a foot also, which will be taken up in the arches and chassis. I aquired the vehicle some a little while ago now and chose this basis becasue it wasn't something someone could really restore anymore. I didnt want to waste a decent classic, which i'm sure you can agree, this is no longer. The back will be rebuilt with brushed aluminium rectangular section and the front will be a fixture of carbon fibre and kevlar (but painted).

I'm building this to showcase my side of the companies abilites and it may serve as a work vehicle also. I'll try to keep this as a blog or i'll start an actual blog when i get properly stuck into it.

:ROFLMAO: :D

Another Warning: may be a LONG time before this thread is updated :p

given that his own car is off the road atm, plus the workshop he (well, we, to be fair) is furbishing still has to be finished!

jordan, you should have made it clear that this project is in no danger of being finished for a year or two!

although let me be the first to say (and i dont even care for moggies that much) that this car WILL be astounding if/when it surfaces onto the road again:p(y)

Lol thanks

Yes, to be fair i have a few other projects on atm aside my customers work as matthew (Munkul) is all too kind enough to remind me. I never planned to finish this car quickly, it took my cousin 4 years to complete his old mini and that was just bodywork. Once my cars back on the road i can start looking for a suitable donor car to give me its engine and box ( ihave the car in mind).

Cheers Phil but i've had that site book marked for a couple of years now, what john beardmore doew with his cars is awesome, he even had a feature with the latest custom minor in retro cars a year or two back.

Thanks for the link again though (y)

:D (y) For me at least, one of the ultimate potential Wolf in Sheeps clothing mobiles!

If any of you have ever worked on one then the ultimate pain in the butt to get off is the brake master cylider :bang: the rest of the car is very basic but well proven design and with the pickup you dont even have to remove the rear seats :D cos there aint any :worship:

lol really phil? :p

I'm not going the Rover V8 lump route, love them and the twin camm, but this is having something a little more modern in it. Its an engine that to my knowledge isn't used a *great* deal on retro's at present.

Cheers for the comments (y) keep them coming

20vt coop engine?

It has to be a conventional type of engine as in rear drive with gear box at the rear ..unless jordan is going front wheel drive ..now that WOULD be novel :chin:
