has anyone done this?and does anyone know which mileage will be shown-the cars own mileage or the mileage from the donor cars.Thanks.

If you use the search button at the top you will find lots of info. I have done it as has a couple of other people lately.
I managed to get a new cluster on ebay and started off with 0 miles.

yes you can swap clusters, the mileage of the donor car will be shown and your mileage will blink if the Fiat drawing nr. is different from the original cluster.
The blinking can be solved by performing a Proxy Alignment procedure with Examiner or FES , the mileage can be adjusted upward with Examiner, downward by reprogramming the cluster (i.e. with UPA usb programmer).
Keep in mind that the mileage is also stored in the engine ecu (and readable !) so it's best to reprogram your original mileage.
You can also fit the Abarth cluster with colour display but after Proxy alignment only the original functions will be shown (so no oil level/presssure gauge etc. in a non-Abarth Stilo.)

my cars done 38,000 miles, but i think the cluster i'm getting out of an 02 plate will be a lot more.I'm not sure about doing the reprogramming stuff, how is it done?.

you need a suitable programmer (i.e UPA usb programmer), a program to calculate the hex code for the wanted mileage and a Hex editor.
Then you connect the UPA to the new cluster, read eeprom file, change the mileage code and rewrite this file to the correct location in the eeprom of the instrument cluster.
Not a DIY job if you never did this before.
What kind of cluster do you need? Petrol or Diesel ? Abarth colour tft or non-Abarth ? what mileage do you need?
I might be able to program a cluster on stock and send it to you (Netherlands to UK)
just let me know if you're interested (PM)

thanks for the info.,but I thought it was going to be easier than this-I bought one from a petrol Stilo at the scrappies thinking it would fit my Diesel Stilo.I still don't know whay my original dash went in the first place, all that happened was I left it parked a few days and when I came back to it the Full Beam and Indicator icons were lighted up,I disconnected the dashboard feed at the fuse box(battery),reconnected it and all the dash was fine-next day it was all gone (apart from the airbag lights).

This is a comman thing when the dash goes, Mine was doing this even when driving, be ok for a few days the ping it would go off at totally random times. Sometimes you could even hear it whirring away when the car was switched off.

I dont think a petrol one will work in a Jtd and any way your rev counter would look a bit odd:eek:
There are a couple of jtd's on ebay that are being broken so you might get lucky and pick one up on there.

Best thing to do if you get one is pop along to a dealer and get it proxy alined which is what i will do at the end of january.
