I picked up my new 500 on Friday and immediately noticed a scratch on the drivers door.
Today I have just noticed another long line down by the back window.

The dealer has said he will have to re-spray the whole door but now back of the car too.

So I'm really worried they will do more damage than good.
So was thinking of trying to get some freebies instead.
I want the boot organiser, blueme& iPhone adapter, iPod holder and cable. Does that sound like too much? Or do you think I can milk more?

I have a box standard 1.2 sport, black, with a fixed glass roof. Is there anything you would reccomend my asking for?

I had a deep gouge in the paintwork from the valet cleaners at the dealership and they resprayed it and repaired and you couldn't see it, plus I got a set of mats thrown in and they filled it up with petrol for the hassle I had having to be without my brand new car.

I don't think you will get any 'freebies' instead of getting the paintwork looked at to be honest. I'd want the paintwork sorted anyway if it were me.

Thanks heidi.

Already got mats, unfortunately.

Will call them and see what he says

Sorry also just so you know I have the superguard.
So if they did sand it down to fix the scratches they will need to re-superguard.

I would have thought so, and will need to be each pannel whole also I would have thought.

You got it delaired to your insurance in the event of an accident?

Supaguard is for application on new cars only. ;)

Would be better to tell them it's turtle wax. Can apply that to any age car. Without going against manufacturers guidelines.

Why only new cars

Surly if a new pannel is put onto the car it will need supaguard or what ever its called to blend in

Mothers Yaris had 'Amazing Glaze' put on it from new, and we've always made sure its been reapplied without trouble in the two cases where its needed new pannels (y)

I had to take it past the dealers this morning.
They took a look, and used some compund wax thinggy, to try and remove the scratches, but it could not do it, as they were under the superguard.

He says I have to bring it back to get it buffed out, but im a bit hesitant about that, as wont that just take the top layer of paint off?
Then they will have to respray that small section, and re-superguard.

I think they will do more harm than good.

So are you saying that you paid £300 or whatever and some **** applied the Superguard on top of a scratched panel on a brand new car.

Yes that is exactly what im saying.

The thing is I saw the car when it was still in the compund untouched!
I went over it with a fine tooth combe, and it was perfect I could not fault them, not a single scratch.
I left feeling very happy thinking its going to be prefect.

Then they 'washed' it, and scratched it when washing it, then just applied the superguard without looking properly at the car, and it has about 6 or 7 scratches in it!
3 were very long, like the size of the back window, 1 went all the way along the top of the roof just infront of the spooiler!

Your probably right. But do you think an insurance company needs a better excuse to not pay to have it applied than the fact it goes against the manufacuters guidlines?

The dealer says it has to be Buffed out.
But just the scratches, but alot of you are saying the whole pannel needs to be done?

What should I do?
