Hi,

Just come back from a few days in France and 1300 miles of motorway have left a dent in my wallet!! and a few stone chips on the car  they really are very tiny and I believe a touch up stick will cover these my question is should I get one from my local dealer or I have read somewhere Halfords do them does anybody have any experience of what is better?

Thanks all in advance :)

I always get my touch up pens from the dealerships...guarantees a good match.

For the small chips don't use the brush that comes with it, they're normally far too thick. I use a good quality paintbrush with a fine tip and for the really small chips a cocktail stick normally works a treat.

Yep, I would definitely recommend the cocktail stick method, works a treat. Also buy from the dealer. I have an exotica red model and the Fiat 'touch up' paint is an exact match. Got my paint for less than £2, got a good discount.

Ive just ordered the stone chip/scratch repair kit from www.paints4u.co.uk, £15 and you get the paint mixed up and various other bits and pieces.
The method uses wet n dry sandpaper too!!!!!.

From reading on other forums etc this is a excellent product and will cover up scratches/stone chips totally blending in the touch up paint into the original colour.

Ill let you know how i get on with it.
Ive used touch up pens before from dealers and they colour does match it just doesnt blend in to the original paintwork well you can always see where you have touched up. With this kit you should be able to see where the original chip was at all :)

Yer same, ive got quite a few on my bonnet already and a few down the sides. Also got some nasty scratches on the boot where my granny's dog jumped it and took the paint off! Did see a good a good guide at http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/ for doing stone chips. will probs do it after my exams which finish on tuesday woop woop!
